The PCC of St. Mary’s church would appreciate your assistance with gathering together all available information relating to the Building (or Re-Ordering) Fund. This was initiated back in the 1990’s as part of a major fundraising exercise. The goal was to realise a grand vision which would create radically improved facilities to better support a wide range of church and community activities. Many parishioners enthusiastically devoted significant amounts of time and money to initiate and sustain a highly successful fundraising campaign. As a result, many aspects of the project were successfully completed.

Following the financial crisis of 2008, the decision was taken – with great reluctance – to put the project on hold. It has, unfortunately, remained on hold ever since. At the time of taking that decision, a sum of money raised in support of the project still remained.

The PCC, in conjunction with the Archdeacon of Chester and officers from Chester Diocese Finance team, are giving careful consideration as to how to proceed with the future governance of the fund. In order to make the right decisions, it is necessary to establish the precise terms under which the money was raised. An information gathering process is therefore underway.
